Turkey-Pakistan Business Forum Was Held by MUSIAD in partnership with Pakistan Sarhad Chamber of Commerce by the International Relations and Trade Commission. In the program, the trade volume between the two countries and the issues related to the development of the existing potential were discussed.

The meeting was attended by MUSIAD’s Deputy Chairman in charge of Foreign Affairs Adnan Bostan, International Relations and Trade Commission Chairman Zeki Güvercin, MÜSIAD 3rd Period Chairman Ömer Bolat, Pakistani Ambassador to Ankara M.Syrus Sajjad Qazi, Pakistan and Turkey's leading business people and MUSIAD members.

Speaking at the forum, Deputy Chairman Adnan Bostan stated that a heartfelt bond exists between Pakistan and Turkey, and that this  friendship is way more important than inter-country treaties and trade relations.

Pakistan takes on an important place in the history of MUSIAD

Noting that Pakistan has a very important place in the history of MUSIAD, Bostan said;
The International Business Forum (IBF), which we organize every year as an organization and which we will organize this year the 22nd time, was established to create a “Global Business Network among Muslim Businessmen”. In this exclusive platform, our partner and our biggest supporter has been Pakistan. In 1995 we organized the first IBF in Pakistan. In 2000 and 2010, we conducted IBF’s in Pakistan. We, as MÜSİAD, have a representative office in Pakistan and have made a MoU agreements with 6 associations, we have realized cooperations and partnerships. When we evaluate all these facts, we can see how important Pakistan is for both for us and our country. “

Our Trade Amount is Very Under-Potential

Speaking in regard to the trade volume between Turkey and Pakistan, Bostan used the following phrases:
"Pakistan is among the most important trade partners of Turkey in the world. Trade volume between the two countries reached the highest level in 2011 with approximately 1.1 billion dollars and in 2016 it decreased to 610.4 million dollars. In this context, the current foreign trade volume between Turkey and Pakistan is far from reflecting the potential of both countries.

At this point, we have a big task for business people. We must reflect our strong friendship relations coming from the past effectively in our commercial relations. We should increase the trade volume between the two countries that it benefits both countries. This is one of our biggest goals in organizing this program.”

“We are creating a ground for new cooperation with international organizations”

Speaking in the program, Zeki Güvercin, the President of the International Relations and Foreign Trade Commission, stressed that they have conducted international organizations in order to create a basis for new cooperation. Giving information about the global scale fairs organized by MUSIAD, Guvercin said:

“We organized our EXPO Turkey by Qatar fair, which is one of our international organizations that brings together important business representatives from many points of the world, in January this year in Doha, the capital of Qatar.

We will organize the 17th MÜSİAD EXPO, which we organize every two years and thousands of business people from all around the world are expected to attend, on 21-24 November in Istanbul.  I would like to express that we would be pleased to see you at 17. MÜSİAD EXPO.”

The program ended after mutual presentations of gifts and a photo shoot.
